[ Avatar Gallery Icon Contest -- Dogtags ]
Fullview needed: must be seen on dA green background

This is my entry for the above contest. Concept thought up by ~lady-maree.


[ Description ]

I had a brief browse through the submissions to date, and a lot of them revolved around the notion of a silhouette/head to represent an Avatar. Now I saw some great versions already, but I wanted to do something different.

In my opinion, an avatar is a form of quick identification. It can also be a form of expression, but the former is the more common theme. It can be a very personal thing, and a place where a user can project their personality and emotions.

I've decided to do dogtags because it's something different, but it's also a form of identification. If I did an ID card, it could get mistaken for the devID icon.

That's such an original idea :)
Its nice to see someone ACTUALLY thinking about it a little instead of just going with the first thing that comes into everyone's head. Also wonderful pixelwork, it might be this computer (im at college) but it looks a little rough around the edges (?)

It was hard to smoothen out those edges firstly because it'd make it look a little fat, but also because of the angle of the individual tags. What it has is a general outline, in a darker grey, and on the right hand side is an extra row of pixels in a darker green to kind of give it a shadow on the dA green background. :nod:
